What’s Hot in Boating – Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show, presented by West Marine, Offers First Glimpse into New Boats and Marine Trends for 2019

More than 100,000 boating enthusiasts from around the globe cruise to Miami over President’s Day weekend for the Progressive® Insurance Miami International Boat Show, presented by West Marine, to enjoy the five biggest days in boating. From hundreds of world boat and yacht debuts, to the newest industry technologies – from green/fuel-efficient innovations, to automated docking and virtual anchoring – the Miami Boat Show is THE place to explore and purchase the newest and best in boating products. 

Here’s a first look at some of the newest boats, yachts, and marine technologies to appear at the 2019 Miami Boat Show (images provided in links):


Cigarette unveils two show-stoppers - celebrating 50 years with 1st-of-its-kind six-engine new model, plus latest concept boat with Mercedes AMG, Pier 2

  • In celebration of their 50th Anniversary, Cigarette – a Miami boating staple and local South FL manufacturer – will unveil an all-new model featuring SIX engines. In addition, check out their latest stunner and collaboration with Mercedes AMG.

1st PWC-fishing vessel hybrid: Sea-Doo launches the Fish Pro 155 – $15,000 PWC, Booth F145, Tent F

  • Sea-doo will showcase the first and only personal watercraft (PWC) built specifically from the factory for sport fishing. The Sea-Doo FISH PRO makes fishing more accessible, as it’s smaller than traditional boats making it easier to store, easier to tow, easier to launch and load, and easier to clean and maintain, and arguably easier to afford. Getting to the fish will be more fun as the Sea-Doo FISH PRO 155 has an open-air experience top speed of 55-mph.  

Regulator launches first crossover center console boat, the 26XO, Pier 4

  • The Regulator 26XO new center console crossover is built for any boating adventure, giving boaters easy access to lakes, bays, skinny waters, and offshore fun, with the capability to enjoy a variety of water hobbies – from fishing to watersports to family cruising. Equipped with a Yamaha F300 with SeaStar Solutions hydraulic jackplate, the 26XO will feature more than 122 square feet of deck space, spacious seating for the whole family, and generous storage.

Assisted Docking, Virtual Anchoring from Mercury Marine, Pier 2

  • The next step towards autonomous boating, making it easier to get out on the water for all ages – Mercury will have boats on the water to test drive with the latest in joystick docking technology, which makes docking as easy as playing a video game, as well as experience virtual anchoring with the push of a button (the new Skyhook technology).

1st look at Raymarine DockSense – Prestige Yachts to Demonstrate New Automated Docking Technology, Pier 6

  • The Raymarine DockSense Solution system is designed to augment a captain's boat handling skills using the system’s Virtual Bumper™ zone technology around the vessel, and will be demonstrated aboard the Prestige 460 yacht. The docksense System uses FLIR machine vision camera technology and video analytics to integrate intelligence gathered from surrounding imagery with the vessel’s propulsion and steering system to assist boat owners in tight quarter docking maneuvering.
Indmar, Ford team up to unveil first Eco-Technology Marine Engine, Propulsion system, Booth F300, Tent 
  • Witness a new revolution unfold as Indmar and Ford unveil an industry first eco-technology to the marine industry and all-new propulsion system.

Torqeedo introduces new line of electromobility products, including new 100 kW Deep Blue inboard electric and hybrid, Booth F616, Tent F

  • Check out the latest in electric outboard motors, inboards, hybrid-systems, intelligent battery technology for sustainable boating, and emission-free solar boats from Torqeedo. Two Torqeedo-powered boats will be on display at this year’s show:
    • Volt 180 fully electric Deep Blue 50i system by Canadian Electric Boats
    • Electric tender with Cruise 10.0 and Power 48-5000 system for Aquila 44 by Nova Luxe Yachts

VETUS Maxwell Showcases Energy Efficient BOW PRO Thrusters, Tent E

  • The innovative BOW PRO range, including the new BOW PRO Boosted, combines VETUS’s highly-regarded electric thruster technology with its extremely quiet RimDrive, to provide near silent operation and precision proportional control. BOW PRO thrusters are energy efficient, turning more energy into thrust compared to standard thrusters, which means the batteries require less charging. Its motors also do not use any carbon brushes. The BOW PRO Boosted series also has the capabilities to charge the thruster batteries when the thruster is not being used.

  • Show attendees can see and shop Costa’s new Untangled Collection, a line of sunglass frames made entirely from recycled fishing nets – the most harmful form of ocean plastic. The new collection features four frame styles made from 100 percent recycled fishing nets, each featuring mineral glass polarized lenses, recycled aluminum Costa logos, PLUSfoam recyclable temple and nose pads, and a unique tumbled finish.
