Big Game Room Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary

The Big Game Room celebrated its five year anniversary with a wonderful charity event entitled Anglers Opening Doors for Children. The event raised $17,000 for the Dan Marino Foundation.

The charity auction was a first for the Big Game Room and was held to celebrate the five year success of the area. "It seemed right to raise awareness and money to help kids with autism and other developmental concerns. NMMA’s goal is to bring more families and children into boating and fishing. We think the auction was a great way to continue achieving this goal." The Anglers Opening Doors for Children evening included a dinner buffet and open bar to all who attended. The evening was included in the boat show admission and there was no additional charge to attend.

Capt. Bouncer Smith is inducted into the Big Game Room Hall of Fame 

The Big Game Room was honored to welcome Captain Bouncer Smith into the Big Game Room Hall of Fame on Thursday, February 14, 2008. Captain Bouncer was honored on the Big Game Room Seminar Stage at 5 p.m. for his outstanding contributions to the sport of big game fishing.  One of South Florida’s best known fishing icons, Captain Bouncer Smith has, in more than 50 years of fishing in Miami Florida, established a remarkable legacy in sport fishing. Bouncer started working on boats when he was just 15; and has been navigating the waters of South Florida since he was 19. Experienced in every aspect of the sport of fishing, Bouncer has spent more than four decades as a full-time professional fishing guide. He has devoted his life to sharing fishing with others through radio shows, magazine articles, seminars and on the water. Bouncer’s conservation efforts have earned him top awards from The Billfish Foundation, Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club, 2 from the Met Fishing Tournament, The Miami Billfish Tournament, The Youth Fishing Foundation and the South Florida Fishing Club. Nearly every month Bouncer can be found sharing his enthusiasm for the sport—and of course fishing stories —as the host of fishing programs for fishing clubs, youth organizations or fishing businesses.
